The training proposal arises from the collaboration of the Archivio del cinema industriale e della comunicazione d’impresa, Fondazione Dalmine, Fondazione Giuseppe Merlini, Museimpresa, Società Nazionale Debate Italia and Università Cattaneo – LIUC.

The course is the second edition of an initiative launched in 2020.

The course’s goal

The training seeks to equip teachers with the skills they need to launch an active citizenship route in their classroom, focusing on the link between the enterprise and one of the 2030 Agenda’s core theme areas. (Goal 8, “Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all”).

The debate approach is proposed as a good tool for stimulating the development of critical thinking and an active approach to study materials in the course. The goal is therefore to promote a fundamental understanding of the debate technique used in education, as well as to give information and resources relevant to various aspects of business culture connected to the issue of labor and technological innovation in production.

The course topics will be presented alongside practical demonstrations made possible by partnership with classes already constituted as part of projects promoted by Italian Debating Society (SNDI). Participants will be given resources to create a 15-hour active citizenship unit.

Themes and methodology

The course contains a unit of debate methodology presentation prepared by Italian Debating Society, which will focus on the various applications of debate (and related activities) in the didactic domain. In addition, there are two unique thematic centers to which some of the tools established in the first module will be used.

will offer the issue of the evolution of labor in Italy, utilizing historical materials to delve further into specific dichotomies: tradition-innovation, alienation-enrichment, qualification-disqualification, benefits large-small enterprises… The Dalmine Foundation, on the other hand, will provide a module on the link between business and territory, concentrating on the interactions, both good and bad, between the growth of local communities and firms that are heavily concentrated in a given location. Each unit includes expert engagement, some interactive recorded video lessons that may be utilized freely until the completion of the course via the Moodle platform, ideas for document analysis made available online, and seminar sessions in which didactic methods generated from the discussion are employed. The activities will conclude with a demonstration of debate protocols designed specifically for educational use and applied to the topics and materials covered in the course.

The initiative takes part in the 2021 Business Culture Week program
